Olive in the Park

This new portrait features Olive, a charming French Bulldog photographed in Bushy Park in September. With her compact build, wide-set eyes and distinctive bat-like ears, Olive is a perfect example of a breed that has captured hearts for more than a century.

Originally developed in the 1800’s as companion dogs for lace workers in Nottingham and later refined in France, French Bulldogs were bred not for sport or work, but for company. Their role was to sit beside their owners, provide warmth, comfort, and no small amount of amusement. That history helps explain their affectionate nature, expressive faces, and that unmistakable desire to be close to people.

Olive’s poised yet playful character reflects this heritage perfectly. Curious, alert and quietly confident during her September outing in Bushy Park, she carried the hallmarks of a breed designed to be both loyal friend and delightful presence. Her portrait celebrates that enduring companionship in a single, unforgettable pose.
