How to Commission

Whether it is a person or a pet, I like to keep the commissioning process simple for both my paintings and prints. First I need to see my subject whether this is from a sitting or photograph. Sittings can be at my studio or your home. Photographs I prefer to take myself, but if this is not possible I can work from photographs you supply.

After this I will proceed to a half-way stage when I will show you either the under-painting or print mock-up. At this point you will be able to see how the finished work might look and we can also decide background colours. Once agreed, and 50% of costs are paid, I will proceed to the finished painting or print.

Costs vary depending on the size of the canvas. A pet portrait 30cm x 30cm, oil on canvas, starts at £700 framed. A person portrait 35cm x 35cm, oil on board, starts at £900 framed. There is a discount if you require more than one portrait. For larger size canvases and boards please contact me for a quote.

Lino cut prints are produced in sets of four 15cm x 15cm, with a different background colour for each. These are then framed four-up in a single frame, or in four individual frames. Costs start at £700 per set of four. You will also be given the remaining unframed prints, normally eight per print on the understanding that I can then produce an additional run, in another colour, for my own use. For larger size prints please contact me for a quote.

Painting and prints usually take around eight weeks dependent on workload. If there is a particular date you need the portrait for please let me know.
